Tell us about yourself

I have 2 children - 7 and 4 years old. We absolutely love going to the beach and on our boat in Summer. We also enjoying camping and the outdoors.

Tell us about your business

I have an Interior Design business where I design home spaces such as kitchens, laundries, bathrooms and basically the whole house design. I have over 15 years experience and have had the opportunity to build a number of homes which has given me the ability to be quick on my feet with problem solving and decision making.

What's the heart behind your business?

I like to share my design experiences with others as I’m a very passionate and helpful person. I love that through sharing my knowledge with clients, we are able to create the most functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces.

What does a typical, or ideal, work day look like for you?

A typical work day starts with in-home meetings with clients discussing their upcoming projects, going through the design and finishes. Then I head back to the office to amend designs. I usually communicate with around 3- 5 clients each day.

Have there been any struggles in your business that you've overcome? What did you learn from them?

My main struggle is I find I can put too much pressure on myself to get too many things done in one day. When clients wanted to make changes to their projects, I felt the need to action them straight away, rather than communicating with the clients and advising that amendments may take a few days. I have learn that with the right communication and setting expectations, clients often understand and are happy to wait.

What's been a highlight for you in business?

It's very rewarding to see the final result of each design come to life! Plus, I have always wanted to start my own business but could never quite make that next step. With the support of colleagues, family and friends I finally made that step, which is such an achievement.

What advice would you give others wanting to start a business?

You need to have determination and strive towards where you want to get to. It takes time, but the pressures make you stronger.
