I’m from Western Sydney, however I love the beach and try to spend as much time by the water when I get a spare moment! I am married to Michael and we have two beautiful daughters, Evie and Isabelle, who keep me on my toes. I love to read, cook and adventure. Before kids and Covid, I travelled overseas every 6-12 months.

Tell us about your business

I’m a Speech Pathologist with 15 years of experience. My drive for innovation and impact earned me the title of Australian Speech Pathologist of the Year. My unique approach to speech therapy is backed by research and focuses on the individual child. I love taking complex information and making it simple.

What's the heart behind your business?

I am passionate about helping children overcome their communication barriers to reach their potential. As the founder of the Speak About Speech Pathology clinics, I have helped thousands of children and am also invested in empowering educators, speech therapists and allied health professionals all around the world.

What does a typical, or ideal, work day look like for you?

My husband and I work together in Speak About. We often rotate days with our kids and are very flexible with our work and each other. Some days I am in the Speak About clinic either in the Hawkesbury or Tuggerah, other days I am working from home in gym gear or I get all glammed up for creating content or attending events. While the blend between mumlife and worklife is real, I love the variety and opportunities I have each day to make a difference!

Have there been any struggles in your business that you've overcome? What did you learn from them?

Plenty! Every year brings new challenges, whether that’s from external pressures such as floods, fires; or internal pressures such as recruitment challenges, financial issues or staff turnover. I have learnt you need to be bigger on the inside than anything happening on the outside. This makes you resilient and a problem solver. I see all problems as opportunities to pivot and improve, no matter how I feel.

What's been a highlight for you in business?

Seeing my employees grow personally and professionally!
Seeing the positive impact on children which has gone beyond my wildest dreams!

What advice would you give others wanting to start a business?

Get a mentor and invest in yourself professionally and personally!
